- General Description: A wide dataset of ear shapes and pinna-telated transfer functions generated by random ear drawings.
- Abstract: 1005 pinna meshes matched with correspondingly calculated PRTFs from the FAST team, IETR (CNRS UMR 6164), CentraleSupélec. The meshes were created by varying principle components obtained from an analysis of 119 pinna meshes of actual listeners. The PRTFs were calculated by means of the boundary-element method for two spatial grids and three distances.
- Methods: A synthetic dataset of 1000+ ear shapes and matching sets of pinna-related transfer functions (PRTFs) has been created. From a proprietary dataset of 119 three-dimensional left-ear scans, a matching dataset of PRTFs was built by performing fast-multipole boundary element method (FM-BEM) calculations. The underlying geometry of each type of high-dimensional data was investigated using principal component analysis. A method was devised to generate an arbitrarily large synthetic database of PRTF sets that relies on the random drawing of ear shapes and subsequent FM-BEM computations.
